One of the most important parts of your business as a freelancer is submitting proposals to potential clients. However, as you go through the proposal process, you may find that you need to make changes or updates to your scope even after your client has signed it.

Wethos allows you to easily accommodate changes to your scope, even after your proposal has been signed. You can edit a signed proposal, and we'll automatically create a new amended version for you to resend for signature while keeping track of the previously signed version(s).

Making changes to a signed proposal

You will always be able to edit any proposal your client has not yet signed. However, once a proposal has been signed, you will need to have any changes to your proposal accepted by your client and signed again.

No worries, though - this is where Wethos’ proposal change management comes in. We give you the option to create a new version of your proposal for your client.

Once your proposal has been signed, you’ll see your timeline updated at the top of the proposal with the date it was signed by your client. If you need to make updates to this proposal after it has been signed, simply select the “edit proposal” button.

You will see a warning pop-up letting you know that a new version of this proposal will be created and will need to be signed again before any changes are implemented. If you have a payment schedule on the proposal, the scheduled invoices will be paused until the proposal is signed again. Select “Continue” on the warning pop-up to start editing the latest version of your proposal or “Cancel” to exit out of creating a new version.

Once you have opted to create a new version of your proposal, you’ll see a banner that says “This document needs to be signed again.” If you make any changes to this proposal, you’ll need to send it to your client again for him or her to sign and accept.

Remember, if your previous proposal version included a payment schedule, this schedule will be paused until your new version is completed and your client signs and accepts the new changes. You will see a few banners reminding you of this on your project's home page and in the proposal builder.

Like the original proposal, you can edit this new version as needed until your client has signed it. Once the amended version has been signed, you will need to create another new version to update or make additional changes to the proposal.

Once you are ready, simply hit the share button to send your new proposal updates to your client and wait for them to sign it. The project tracker bar at the top of the page allows you to keep track of any proposal updates and know when your new proposal has been viewed and signed.

Find a past proposal version

Looking for the past versions of your signed proposals? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

To access previous versions of your proposal, you’ll first need to select the project you’re looking for on the Projects page.

Once you find and select the project you want, you will land on your project's proposal page. Here, you'll be able to choose the proposal version you're looking for, edit the current version (if it hasn’t already been signed), or create a new version of the proposal.
