If you are here, it means you have created your proposal and already had it signed and accepted by your client. Congratulations!

But what happens if you need to change any details in your proposal, like, for example, updating the payment schedule?

In this article, we will show you…

1. Creating a new proposal version:

To update your proposal, click on the “edit proposal” button and create a new proposal version! You can find all new and past proposal versions under your project in the Projects tab.

Once you click on the edit proposal button you’ll see a banner pop up to let you know that these changes may affect your current proposal, specifically if you have a payment schedule attached to your original accepted proposal.

** Don’t worry—this will not affect any invoices that have already been sent to your client or that have been paid, like your deposit invoice. However, you will see a change in any invoice still scheduled to be sent. Once you select “edit proposal,” all future invoices will be labeled “Paused.” Once paused, your invoices will not be sent out on the scheduled dates until you have completed the new proposal version and your client has agreed to the changes.

If you are ok moving forward with your updates, you’ll need to have the proposal resigned and accepted by your client for the new version to be updated and for changes to the payment schedule to go into effect. You’ll see a banner reminding you at the top of your proposal and under the proposal tracker bar.

You can have unlimited versions of one proposal, but you can always keep track of your changes and be confident in knowing which version is your most up-to-date by selecting the “latest version” on the drop-down menu. You can also review your past signed proposals and download them at any time by choosing the version of your proposal that you are looking for from the drop-down menu.

2. How to make changes to the scheduled invoices?

While you will be able to see all scheduled invoices and invoice details in the Invoices tab, any update to a payment schedule must be made through the proposal builder in the payment schedule section. This will automatically update the invoices as well.

In your most up-to-date proposal version, select “edit proposal” to access the proposal builder. Scroll down, find the payment schedule section, and update any information you need to change here.

Note: You will only be able to send one deposit invoice per project. If you created another proposal version, you will not see the option to include a deposit if this invoice has already been sent or paid.

You can always go to your invoices to make sure that everything looks good before sending the new version to your client or to add any additional notes to the individual invoices.

Remember, your payment schedule will be paused until your client signs your new proposal version. Once signed, your invoices will be scheduled to be sent out on the new dates and with any new details.
