Requesting a deposit has never been easier. Seamlessly automate your workflow by including a deposit request within your proposals or create a custom payment schedule plan. By securing a deposit before starting the work, you'll have the commitment from your client and peace of mind.

Check out our detailed video below or scroll down to read a step-by-step guide on how to request a deposit for your projects.

How to Request a Deposit?

When building your proposal, you’ll see the “Payment Schedule” section underneath the Scope of Work. Toggle on this section to ensure a deposit invoice is sent to your client once they sign your proposal. You can learn more about how to continue building a custom payment schedule for your client through the Payment Schedule section in our detailed help center article here.

Upon toggling on the “Payment Schedule” section, you’ll be able to create a custom payment plan for your client, including an initial deposit upon acceptance of your proposal by your client.

Toggling this section will automatically generate a deposit on the first line. Add the payment amount, send date, and due date, and an invoice will automatically be created for you with this information.

As you build out your proposal, it’s important to note that any changes you make will be automatically reflected on the deposit invoice. Whether you update the information on your invoice or directly on the proposal, all changes will be auto-saved and reflected on both sides.

You can view your deposit invoice directly on the Invoices Page.

If, at any point during the proposal-building process, you determine you no longer want to request a deposit, you can delete it by clicking on the ellipses next to it and selecting “delete.”

Until your proposal has been signed and accepted, the invoice will remain in a draft stage. You can continue updating the invoice and the proposal until your client signs and accepts.

Once you are ready, share your proposal with your client by emailing it through the Wethos platform or copying and sending the share link. Once your client signs and accepts your proposal, the deposit invoice that was created during the proposal-building process will be automatically sent to your client.

There are no additional steps you need to take to get your deposit invoice sent - the Wethos platform automates it for you!

Making changes to a deposit invoice after acceptance:

Once your proposal has been signed and accepted, no changes can be made without your client's approval. However, if you need to update any information on your proposal or your payment schedule/ deposit invoice, you can create a new version of your proposal. You can check out a step-by-step guide on how to create a new proposal version HERE.

Any previously scheduled invoice that has not been sent or paid will automatically get paused when a new proposal version is created. To get the new payment schedule updates and invoices sent, you will need to have the new version of your proposal signed by your client. For more details on how to update your payment schedule on a signed proposal, check out our Help Center article HERE.

Note: You will only be able to send one deposit invoice per project. This means that should you decide to create another proposal version within the same project; you will not see the option to include a deposit if this invoice has already been sent or paid.
